In Progress…
TRANSMARSH: June 2026
BODYSTORM's premiere of TRANSMARSH is a free, outdoor, vertical performance coinciding with the 2026 Trans March. The work will take place on a building facade in the historic Transgender District and will honor the eco-social history of the Tenderloin: from its prehistoric salt marshes across Market St, to the 1966 trans-led uprising against police violence at a corner now occupied by a private prison company, to the former gay bars turned luxury hotel. BODYSTORM will weave together vertical dance by B Dean, sound design by Lawrence Tome, vocal performance by Pangaea Colter, and large-scale costume design by House of Perception. In a rapidly changing and increasingly hostile sociopolitical landscape, TRANSMARSH uplifts and celebrates trans existence as a vital part of our ecosystem.

TEETH: April 2026
In a stark, dimly-lit dystopia where flesh deviates and identities fracture, TEETH plunges into the shadows where trans bodies become monstrous, not as objects of horror, but as sites of radical imagination and necessary adaptation. BODYSTORM’s contemporary dance nightmare/solo with jose e abad’s haunting soundscore creates a gender apocalypse that bites back against the looming threat of our extinction and holds up a mirror to reveal the dangerous beauty of our interconnected monstrosities. The work is the second part in a series exploring the trans body as a force of nature. Beginning with OBSESSED (2025) and ending with HAUNT (2027), TEETH exists in a wasteland on its own or as a mutant growth in the middle of a living, morphing triptych.

RAWHIDE: March 2027
RAWHIDE is a performance mixtape of racial solidarity, trans resistance, Black queerness, and the immense grief of our political times. An assemblage of two solos and one duet created and performed by Clarissa Rivera Dyas and B Dean, RAWHIDE centers autonomy and collaboration, supporting independently and mutually choreographed works while providing a container for performance and public workshops.

Past Works
Obsessed
“OBSESSED” was a solo tracing a sci-fi metamorphosis of my crotch evolving into an old white man under hostile conditions, interrogating mainstream culture's obsession with trans bodies as both demon and fetish object. This solo began to touch on 'monstrosity,' a term viewed through the lens of sci-fi, queer, Black, and feminist studies as a powerful site of transgression and reclamation against cis, able-bodied whiteness.
Music by Ben Juodvalkis
Performed at Joe Goode Annex in April 2025
Transmarsh
"transmarsh" began a site-specific exploration of West Oakland - what was once a salt marsh and transitional wetland, then landfill. The piece connected our identities as trans people to that place - finding beauty within the refuse and thriving on the salty margins, as experts in transition. “transmarsh” was the inception of what will be the bigger, louder, more expansive TRANSMARSH 2026.
Costume design by House of Perception
Sound by Lawrence Tome
Performed at BANDALOOP Studios in November 2024.

Former
Former was a vertical dance solo exploring transition and transformation. Taking place within an installation of mirrors and plant life, the work invited audiences to see themselves reflected in nature while witnessing Dean’s embodied investigation of change. Marking one year of hormone replacement therapy and anticipating top surgery, Former employed vertical dance technology and costume to ride the momentum of natural forces, asking: "What change can come if we let it?"
